hehe, I used in my college classes, at Technical University of Moldova, my teacher was a bit on the fence about it (he was demanding Matlab, but the uni wasn't providing any licenses), but he reluctantly agreed to it. Worked pretty fine, I could use my linux laptop, and didn't need to crack matlab.

Yeah, i remember being prescribed ampicillin and aspirin for every cold, as a child. They didn't care, they only wanted to "do something". I remember in highschool having a colleague who's overprotective mother was also a germophobe, and was treating her only son with ever increasing doses of antibiotics every winter. By the time we met, pills had no effect(according to them, the hell knows what they meant by "effectiveness"), and he was getting intramuscular ones. The poor people probably never learned that there almost no antivirals, and are doing more harm that good. Antibiotics are thought to be a panacea around here, in eastern Europe.

In my case, medicine and diet had little effect. And I was in pretty bad shape, i got to the emergency room several times a week with awful abdominal pain, vomiting, constipation. A different doctor adviced me to eat anything I want, but for at least half a year to eat kefir with every meal. That worked. Whenever I feel like my digestive tract is getting funny, i add a few bottles of kefir for a few days.

You have actual Crohn's or IBS? Because your symptoms while distressing don't sound like Crohn's at all. Crohn's is an autoimmune inflammatory condition with actual tissue destruction. People with Crohn's flares don't show up to the ED with constipation, they often show up with profusely bloody diarrhea. Additionally weight loss and anemia. They may likely require admission for high dose steroids. People with Crohn's will often need surgery. What you're describing sounds more like IBS.

A bottle of kefir is unlikely to hurt. However, I am quite skeptical that such a thing has any prophylactic effect once a recurrent process like Crohn's is set in motion - like pissing on a gasoline fire. A bottle of kefir is not going to touch an actual Crohn's flare at all.

There's no good evidence that any specific diets seem to help the chronic course of Crohn's unfortunately, and it's not like no one has looked.

I also lost access to a previous gmail account - I changed my password with a random generated one, and god (and a google engineer) knows why, I lost access. No amount of appealing would return my access, even if I was wiling to show my national ID card and stuff.

Anyway. About your plan with the email server. We ran such a thing for an organisation in Romania. You'll be surprised how many times our emails ended up in Gmail's spam folders (other providers too, but gmail runs an especially harsh algorithm for spam filtering), even though we had DKIM, SPF and all that jazz setup. You will most likely be locked out of most people's reach, unless you use one of the largest providers. So maybe government regulation is the only realistic way out.

Google doesn't get social engineered into handing over user accounts since maybe a few hundred people have any access to the Google Accounts system proper, less so for the gmail.com organization (Workspace Support can help with recovering an Admin account in an org). Introducing a way to retrieve an account via human intervention makes the chance of someone taking over a Google account via malicious social engineering, incl. faking national ID cards, non-zero. In fact, i'm sure tons of people have been able to take over accounts using account recovery[0] where it'll ask you things like "when did you create this account" and "what was the phone number you put on the account".

> I applaud the pursuit of longevity and health so long it is paired with the egalitarian outcome in that everybody will be entitled and receive it, regardless of who they are and what they did.

Aren't Americans struggling getting diabetes medicine? And chemo? Is it a reasonable expectation that this treatment, whatever it is, will be any different?

Don't they already use MySQL for example? I don't think it would stop them in any way, unless some lawyers had some really antiquated views, coming straight from the 90's

MySQL has dual license and one of them if friendly to companies who can pay the fees.

Probably because of different alloys used, different thickness. You don't expect a commercial ship to be shot at with missiles.

There is only one reason for me to use it: as a historical reenactor, I strive to make my equipment as accurately as possible, and I read various articles regarding roman military food, how widespread were certain metal alloys, how they used to do soldered joints, and so on. I wouldn't make an account to JSTOR just for a hobby - I use their search to find DOI's, and get them via Sci-Hub. I do buy books and stuff as part of my documentation, but there are really specific articles, usually a few pages long, that I can't find in both a convenient and legal way.

The thing with the sodium was debunked like a hundred times already, how long is this myth gonna last? Beside a temporary spike in blood pressure, there is nothing wrong with eating salt.

Coffee and tea helps me in such cases. Plain, no sugar, no milk. Brushing your teeth can also reduce hunger. Also, try to take it gradually - I don't eat at all on Wednesdays, making a ease-in and an ease-out -the diner the night before and the next day's breakfast in an apple, a carrot or a glass of kefir. Fasting more days in a row take an incredible amount of willpower (one of the reasons why I do it), and also takes a toll on your concentration, physical power.

I used to do it on Saturdays, because then I could reduce my physical activity to an appropriate level - but lately I've been going to festivals, or going out with friends, and it was not doable. Try to find a way where it works well with your schedule. Also, it may be a good idea to be discreet about it, because coworkers, friends and family will pester you.
