I find it interesting that the EU does not define "free and open-source software" in either of the proposals. I think they need to define the terms as used. There isn't complete agreement in the software world as what that applies to. For example MongoDB and the SSPL license.

Maybe this doesn't matter as much as I think it does, but a lot of languages have duplicate tooling because developers who make and work in a language want to write their tools in the same language.

As a fan of Eclipse at one time, I feel like the non-Java plugins always suffered because the developers didn't know or didn't want to work in Java.

Maybe this will be unpopular, but Hell is not that bad of a place. In my opinion, Hell is exactly what many people on earth are asking for.

Many people I know who dislike religion say that if there is a god, they wish he would leave them alone. They want to live in a world where god does not exist.

This is what Hell is. Hell is simply a place where god is not, completely separate from god and his influence.

The reason Christianity describes Hell as a place of suffering is because god is the sole source of good in the universe. So Hell, a place without god, is a place without any good.

<Many people I know who dislike religion say that if there is a god, they wish he would leave them alone. They want to live in a world where god does not exist.

On the other hand there's atheists like Terry Pratchett who described himself as “rather angry with God for not existing".

Ink from Inkle[0] can output to JSON. It has a Unity integration and I have used the JSON format in a custom game engine. Their editor (inky) makes it easy to play through the story as you write it. I used it for NPC dialogs for game.

Awesome, thank you!

Appears to have been flagged by google. Links are show Deceptive Site warning in Google Chrome on Android due to possible Phishing.

Dang. It's really hard to put something online that lets anybody be creative without someone coming in, using to do bad things, and getting the whole site blocked by google.

I guess nothing is going to change too since this conveniently serves to entrench the big platforms.

I'm getting the same thing on Firefox now.

Looks like it's back to normal now. I'm no longer getting this warning.

Same on mobile safari

Microsoft does. OneDrive for storage, Outlook webapps does email and calendar. Office online has Word, Excel, etc. All accessed with one Microsoft account. All free.

You might not want to be tied to Microsoft but Google is not the only option.

Edit: Overlooked the comment about Apps. Microsoft offers apps for mobile, but not Linux. Although even on Windows I use the browser to access the services which will work on Linux.

Microsoft's office offerings comes very close (cept for the free part - which i guess is just a bonus and not a requirement). Although i have to say, despite microsoft's attitude for keeping compatibility and old stuff working, they too could chuck a google reader one day, and deprecate/remove a needed service (along with all your data).

What's needed is a syndication of data, and inter-operable apps. Like how xmpp worked. But of course, all vendors don't like this, because it turns themselves into a commodity.
