One of Micrsoft's biggest mistakes!

His point was that the money could be used for things like buying a home. After taxes that 1.5 million turns into a bit more than 1 million (assuming long term equity gains). And if you live in the bay area or Palo Alto, a million doesn't buy you much.

I think there is more to it than luck. For example, Elon Musk is an entrepreneur that has done well time after time. I don't think he is that lucky. ;-)

How to leverage your luck, based on Marc Andreessen's blog:

I think there are a lot of good gems in there. Especially the one on: the minimal viable product concept by Eric Ries.

What about the misses you get when working with Fortune 500 companies? Those misses can really hurt a company.

I disagree. I think you can learn a lot of those things and do it yourself.

Of course but it takes time and effort. In case you already run a business it's cheaper to hire someone than to learn it from scratch.

When I think of link bait, I think of sites that go after Digg and not really Hacker News. Hacker News is an awesome resource (better than digg imho), but if you get to the top I don't think you get too many links out of it.

WOW, that is a lot of money lost. I wonder is someone is going to get sued because of it.

I really wonder about how they could control this though. So much power based on someones words and yet people have to have the right to make mistakes too. no?

I never knew that the PriceGrabber.com guy was a hustler. If he raised raised no venture capital (only financing from friends/family) and sold the company for $485 million, I need to become one.
