Well it was a metaphor I guess but I certainly took it that way.

Many of the top tier companies (meta, Amazon, google, microsoft etc) have had massive layoffs in the 10's of thousands range. Those workers were top tier programmers. So you need to be quite delusional or uninformed to have your view point on the work force.

Bar was lowered massively during the COVID employment boom (with the exception of Apple really).

Unfortunately resetting the bar has massive collateral damage but it will sort itself out pretty quickly.

All the good ones will be re-employed within short order. The ones that the layoffs were trying to flush out with said layoffs will transition out of FAANG into lower-tier employers.

One anecdote about Bill Gates is he was in the Bahamas perhaps to purchase some real estate and he was dressed very down to the point where he looked like a bum. He went into a local real estate office where the lady was dressed in a suit and to the 9's despite it being 40 degrees outside. And she went and told him that real estate was expensive in the Bahamas and he needed a lot of money to buy to which he replied "I might be able to work something out you never know". So ya the super rich don't need to sound good or look good they simply have money.

I've always wondered how people who are not 1/10th as smart as Elon convince themselves that he is not intelligent after solving robotics, AI, neuralink, and space all simultaneously.

The guy quite clearly couldn't put a html page up (see his tweets around Twitter's acquisition), and that's a field where he supposedly "worked".

At all the other topics he couldn't even name the field. The only thing he is good at is scamming people dumb enough to fall for this.

And what fraction Elon-Intelligence is needed to believe he actually invented/solved all that by himself?

Or did I miss the sarcasm?

Every country will have to figure out how to deal with this. Once India and China go negative who is going to fill that gap? It's impossible. The only question is whether or not countries can retain their culture and population or whether they will be replaced by outsiders.

> Once India and China go negative who is going to fill that gap?

Take a look at the fertility rates and population growth rates in African countries.

That's just not how the economy works.

That was my thoughts exactly.

10000% true.

Sorry but it is true, almost entirely because of immigration. https://dragonflyintelligence.com/news/sweden-gang-bombings-...

Wishing it away doesn't make it any less true.

Today i learned that Sweden is blaming immigrants for crimes committed by native born Swedes.

Sweden has always had a fairly high crime rate. Immigrants didn't make it worse, but blaming them just made an existing problem more visible.

Sweden has not had a “fairly high crime rate”, this is a totally bogus statement.

And yes, 2nd generation immigrants are clearly over represented when it comes to crime, in Sweden and every wheee else.

In Sweden these issues are pronounced because of a ridiculous taboo that existed 1995-2020 to even discuss this problem.

But it turns out, if you import >1 million people from dysfunctional societies with entirely different cultures, while sticking your head in the sand, you will faces issues…

FWIW I am from Sweden, was born in 1986. These problems were obvious to me.

Murder/homicide rate has been relatively consistent since 1990 https://www.macrotrends.net/global-metrics/countries/swe/swe...

I don’t know what you want me to do with this information.

The point of the information was that Sweden has a relatively high crime rate. For point of comparison, most of of the L.A. area has a lower crime rate than Sweden.

The other point was that the arrival of immigrants did not increase the crime rate.

That article says nothing of immigration though.

Strange to leave out successful modern examples like China, South Korea, Japan, Germany until they decided to destroy their industry for green goals etc.
