Awhile back I was researching cloud instances for performance, And I noticed that AWS didn't have the latest generations of AMD/Intel. Which are far superior to Graviton 4.
It seems obvious to me that AWS using their market dominance to shift workloads to Graviton.
This sort of makes sense. If there is no competitive advantage in buying the latest AMD or Intel CPUs, why buy them when you can just deploy a generic (ARM licensed) CPU at cheaper prices.
The competitive advantage right now is in NVIDIA chips and I guess AWS needs all their free cash to buy those instead of non-competitive advantage CPUs.
I imagine it can take time to actually validate and build out that new infrastructure at scale after AMD/Intel announces these products to the market. It wouldn't surprise me if hyperscalers like AWS, Google, Microsoft, et. al. get a little bit of early previews of this hardware, but it still takes time to negotiate sales, buy the chips, and then actually receive the new chips and make actually useful systems.
Meanwhile, when AWS announces a new chip its probably something they have already been building out in their datacenters.
Any mood intense enough is extremely distracting and dangerous for driving, whether anger, infatuation, mourning, etc.
Because of this some countries have psychological testing to check your emotional stability when you get your license renewed, but realistically your emotions will be compromised for short durations much more often than that.
The test is a long term ( 15-30 minutes ) strict focus test. You don't have time to fully check everything you do on it, so you do your best and the psychologist verifies both that you have a sufficient ability to focus as a % of tasks reasonably responded to, and that you don't have large "emotional gaps" in your responses where your mind wandered to your bonnie for 45 seconds and you didn't interact with the tasks much or at all.
The later.
While I applaud Israel capabilities the are not unique. USA and china has more mony, talent and access to the hardware/software that is actually used to build the networks
> the responsible adult that was in charge of my protection
So you're infantilizing an entire nation to make this point?
> So he should surrender and spare us the war.
Do you have any measure on this sentiment among the population currently? If it is, as it is in so many places, that the leaders actions are detached from the will of the voters, then what should we make of this?
Should they be allowed to surrender to a _neutral_ party?
Should they be allowed to keep their state?
Is there any reason not to presume a peaceful negotiation under these terms? Is there any reason to attempt to assassinate the party trying to coordinate this?
> How would you feel? Insulted?
Violated. These are _our_ emergency broadcast services. They should be used for the intended purpose and not to force an angry political message on a powerless population.
Do you not have any good faith in yourself for this topic?
Every phone in Israel got a special message when missiles from Iran were fired.
No application, no nothing, just by the virtue of being connected to to an Israeli phone cell tower (it worked even on imported phones)
My understanding that it is a standard feature, this is how earthquake warning works in Japan.
Point being there is no "hacking" involved. Standard feature
I'm using Framework with Windows and AMD and I have excellent hibernate/sleep time... It is really a Linux thing. I remember a post on reddit that claims that the Bluefin distribution has excellent battery life.
It amazes me how the legend of ARM being more efficient than x86 took hold. I'm not saying that we don't have a more efficient ARM processors BUT it has nothing to do with the ISA. What you gain with a simple encoder (ARM) you gain with code density (x86) and after that it is converted to microcode. You wouldn't gain more than single percent if any.
Process node is by far more important (5nm , 3nm, etc) and usually Apple gets access to them first. Also placing the memory in the CPU package also proved to be great for efficiency (case of point is Intel's Lunar lake that can last like forever) and last but the least is the intergraded GPU that no one seems to talk about and their respective efficiency (cause there are like 30 people in the whole world that can truly make and educated talk about them and their ISA)
There is a Windows version if you're willing to use unofficial builds. I've been using it successfully for a few weeks. There's a few more rough corners than in the official Mac/Linux version, but it's usable.
Seems like Onlyfans-like content also exists in China. They banned "erotic eating of bananas on livestreams" 1), so if they're fire-fighting, there must be a fire...
Please don't comment like this here. It's not what HN is for and it destroys what it is for. We have to ban accounts that comment like this repeatedly.
Id also argue if China was open to the world we would see the level of Chinese racism against foreigners is very high indeed. Likely higher given their closed media systems unable to tolerate foreign opinion.
