How about the ethical side? If one copies the human brain more or less exactly, then ethics will almost certainly become a big issue.


You would be amused how many of my computational colleagues completely fail to see the ethical issues of having a perfect working simulation of the human brain in a computer.


How does it matter if it's an exact copy? I would argue that a completely different implementation of real intelligence still prompts the same ethical questions.

Is there a reason to think that that is even a possibility?


At this point its difficult to say if it is or isn't a possibility.



We could seek to build an animal brain, which would also be very useful.
