I was a teen in the mid 1980s when computers were too expensive. The situation today is orders of magnitude better, it isn't really comparable at all.

For one thing, a Raspberry Pi is more powerful than the Sinclair ZX-81, Apple IIe, or Atari 400/800 I had access to back then, and much cheaper.
