I find it more worrying that Tesla will connect to your car to pull logs to manage their PR.

In future incidents, what prevents Tesla from forging logs and who could prove it?




I suspect that the "connect to your car" step wasn't even necessary - that the activity logs are constantly streamed to Tesla's service. And yes, it's worrying to me that they collect information to that level of detail, that the information is tied to your identity, and that they have no problem publicizing that data if you say anything bad about them.

If I buy a Tesla, the first thing I'll do is snip the antenna cable.


Imagine if Google routinely published details of people's search history if they complained about Google making crappy software?

"I searched for 'friendly women pictures', and Google showed me porn!"

Google: "no, you searched for X,Y,Z porn repeatedly at 3:30 PM every day for a year"
