This, to me, sounds like Mozilla Persona


The goal is similar, but not execution. I don't know all specs of Persona - learnt about it when it was being deprecated - but the key difference SecureLogin cannot be deprecated.

And hey, there's nothing on SL servers.


More like SQRL, but without the ability to authenticate from a different device (smartphone)


Yes, you can only auth from current app installed on current device. No QR codes involved :)
