UEFI is a good example of a standard that was over designed by a committee. Way too much bad decisions that are now part of the standard.

My favourite is using the FAT file system format for the system partition. No checksums, fragile on disk format, and no built in support for mirroring just to name a few.

And why they kept the idea of having the clock in local time is baffling. That just leads to errors when DST failed to apply or was applied twice.
