Here is where I point out that MongoDB dominated write benchmarks when it first came out. And then everyone complained loudly that the benchmark was writing to PostgreSQL and flushing to disk while Mongo turned off safe writes so they'd do better on the benchmark. Once that was fixed, Mongo plummeted towards the bottom of the rankings.
