Thing is, I have always used IM in one form or other for work. Slack is finally one that can handle code snippets well.
It's not worse at interruption than any other IM (and you can tell it to shut up, so), it does not replace documentation, and it does not solve any organisational problems (it's a technical solution, how could it).
What it is, however, is a chat client that can handle code snippets well. So yay for that.
