My least-experienced team member has 10 years of experience. The others have 20 years of experience.

Veterans make mistakes, just like all other humans. Sometimes they're sleepy or distracted or don't have enough time to think what they're doing through.

Also, veterans are more likely to have their own ideas about how to do things, and some aren't easy to compromise with.

Either way, why should I leave it up to chance when there are automated tools that prevent mistakes before they leave someone's desk?



But you weren't talking about mistakes, being sleepy or distracted, or not having enough time to think through things. You also were not talking about leaving things up to chance. You were talking about discipline and I asserted that one way to get "uniformly disciplined" employees is to get employees from the other side of a thing that uniformly disciplines them, i.e. the military.
