haha, i've pretty much migrated to google docs, so i didn't realize how terrible that workflow was in excel. I didn't need such a function back when i still used it.

for anyone else wondering: you can only have a whitelist of editable fields in an excel worksheet, and adding items to that whitelist is a well hidden feature
