Correct. And people in the Perl community didn't stop just because someone else had more market-share in web development. There's many area's of programming and I'm always surprised when people think web development is the only one that matters.


A good point. I focus on web development, and the question is entirely about what will replace PHP in the field of web development (not that PHP is extensively used anywhere else).


I agree. I'm not sure if the "replacement" will be a single technology or merely a standardized interface for hooking up web applications on a host.
