Holding tight to 'all that legacy crap' is what makes Windows the de facto standard for desktop.
Despite people trying to insist on it being business practices from twenty years ago, the simple fact is that Microsoft dominated, and still dominates, bc of backwards compatibility, a lesson that Apple has never learned (or never cared to learn) and why they will never have more than a few percent market share on the desktop.
And despite the gossip bloggers constant nonsense, the desktop market is still be much alive and thriving.

Yes the pulled that *hit off... imagine all the combination of components and drivers they needed to support. Way more of a challenge than a closed system like Mac.
