So basically on top of dealing with the stress of a life threatening disease, you're suggesting that a family must either decide to watch a parent die, and maintain financial stability, or attempt to live and set the whole family back?

That's definitely a perspective, I guess.



What the poster is saying is that without the market, perhaps the family member would just die because the drug wouldn't exist.


“Perhaps” is a doing a lot of dirty work in that sentence. I’d prefer a more definite assertion, backed up with commensurate evidence.
