Recently I filed a complaint with Human Resources at my company.
Another programmer made a homophobic slur about veterans (I'm a retired Marine) and in his brilliance he did it right over a slack channel. This homophobic coward has since gone on to influence projects that I'm on and recently had me removed from the project.
This is the short story. The long story is 5 page complaint, slack channel screen shots and six months of documentation.
I'm pretty well versed in "at will", employee handbooks, counselling, documentation, improvement performance plans, etc. I feel slightly protected as I have filed a compliant, hence it would be retaliatory, if I was terminated by the end of the week. I'm trying to find a new job, but need to land the right one not the I have to take.
Most lawyers want payment and I don't think they usually win. I have already come to terms with that. All I really want is to move on to another job or be left alone and judged on my merit of my work not the resentments of a crazy stalker coder.
Does anybody know of any good resources for issues such as this?
