Most people are omnivores, not carnivores as PG stated - however the trend seems to be moving towards the health benefits of eating as carnivore - a purely meat diet; it's the food you don't eat that improves health, meat is a healthy food for most people.
We have the sugar lobby who paid researchers to create propaganda that fat was the culprit. We have companies incentivized to sell fad diets, we have every participant of the food industrial complex trying to push for their product to be consumed - and we have governments who are trying to keep the lobbyists happy and perhaps for the purpose of keeping the economy stable. They all aren't going to be promoting or funding research that will give results against their own interests.

I'm writing a book that will be comprehensive with all of this, there's too much misinformation/outdated information and misunderstanding out there to do combat one-on-one.. Shoot me an email matt@engn.com or follow me on Twitter @mattamyers if you want to keep in touch, probably will be a few years before I publish the book.
Hey loceng, I don't normally comment on the meat subject. "Veggies are good and meat is bad" is a modern day religion.
Looking at you past posts it seems that you are dealing unsuccessfully with depression. Here is something that will work with a very high degree of certainity. Go all red meat. No spices, no lean meat, no veggies. Nothing but red meat and salt for a month. Go for the fatty and gelatinous cuts: Ribs, steaks, brisket etc, but no lean cuts. You may have to stick with it for life. I'm a carnivore (only meat + eggs) for 6 years now. I had other health issues but not depression. There are lots of anecdotes from the web about depression of all kinds reducing or disappearing.
Sincerely hope that my post also helps someone else.
Hey Dennis, sorry about whoever downvoted you - if you look far enough back in my posts you'll see my opinion on why downvotes are lazy and don't add anything to civil conversation; I get downvotes too often for reasons I can't understand, I feel I have a couple of losers following me around with nothing more to contribute than click a downvote to feel some lame satisfaction and reward in their life.
I would say I've successfully treated the depression I've had. Any bouts of being down I have otherwise are simply part of a cycle from the chronic pain, a lot of pain from many old injuries, that I'm still dealing with. Unfortunately I have to wait 4 months between stem cell treatments, fortunately they are providing a significant improvement in everything including my executive function, decision making, and processing emotion better each time.
I currently only do red meat and chicken. I tried pork which I didn't normally eat anyway and that didn't make me feel well, likewise salmon that made me not feel bad - but made me feel off - so I don't do fish at all currently. I'm mildly allergic to egg whites, so I haven't done eggs for awhile. I don't use spices or herbs or anything other than Himalayan salt. I do cook with a fair amount of beef and/or chicken/beef bone broth which is yummy, along with adding tallow for extra fat.
Quickly skimming your blog looks like we can keep having decent conversation, shoot me an email if you would matt@engn.com and/or follow me on Twitter @mattamyers if you have it. I'd like to share my plans with you at some point, perhaps there's a way we can work together - perhaps not, however I always value feedback and someone's time. There are certainly ideas that you post that I have differing thoughts or beliefs on, however I think that offers both of us a great opportunity, the best possible, to learn and grow, and build community. Hope I hear from you.
loceng, I will email you. A quick note on pork. The quality of pork meat varies greatly depending on what the pig is fed. A pig, being a pig is capable of eating a wide range of foods including really bad stuff. When it comes to the ruminants like cows there is a far more narrower choice of foods that they can eat. This means that overall quality of red meat from ruminants is likely to better than from pork. Go for grass-fed and grass finished meat as much as possible.
Thanks for the link and reaching out with the suggestion.
I've been rotating between water fasting (with Himalayan salt for electrolytes) and carnivore diet since beginning of January. I started off doing a 6.5 day water fast (I had done a 10 day one in the past), and was planning to go longer, however the inflammation goes down and makes the pain more sharp - and at 6.5 days became too much and so started to eat again. Recently I finished an 8 day water fast - ended a week ago. I'm down a stable 30+ Lbs in the nearly 2 months, and losing 2-5 Lbs depending on how active I am, even when not fasting. I also generally eat only one meal a day, which ends up being intermittent fasting of 1:23; occasionally I'll have a second smaller meal later in day.
I've also been doing ozone therapy with amino acid IV drip afterward for a month now, and a few weeks ago started LDN - low-dose Naltrexone - which has had a significant impact as well, in part it acts as a powerful anti-inflammatory; https://www.ldnresearchtrust.org/ for more information on that + a short documentary on LDN: https://vimeo.com/295993909
P.S. Just thought I'd point out you have "karma: 1337" right now. :P
