Some of my best friends were as middle class as you can get and were super smart kids who earned their way in. Your view on society is rather jaded as well, probably too influenced by the media and their far-left/far-right biases. In the US, society is definitely somewhere in the middle of "everyone" and "the 1%".

As someone that didn’t get in, you’re still elite if you are “super smart”.
