What I don’t like about planting trees for carbon absorption is that is leads to really boring forests: in Canada they’ll plant mono species stands of white spruce, which typically absorb the most carbon. This is however not the best in terms of biodiversity... Doing something as complex as forestry while optimizing for one objective is not the best approach IMHO.
