Been using syncthing as a dropbox replacement since 2017 - It scales from a raspberry pi with a USB disk, to a docker container on my NAS. It even works if the devices aren't on the same network via relays.

It has very low system load, there are basically zero dependencies, and you can run it on your android phone too.
