But he's almost never left without making an impact where he worked at, no matter how short of a sting: DEC (21164/21264) -> AMD (K7/K8) -> SiByte/Broadcom -> P.A. Semi (bought by Apple, A4/A5) -> AMD (Ryzen) -> Tesla (not sure about his impact) -> Intel (no visible impact so far).
Also, from those only his first stint at AMD can be considered "not staying long", most of the other positions were held for some years.
He carries enough weight in this industry to have no problem changing the orbit of even a company the size of Intel. It depends how hard the managers are going to try and pull it back in the old direction.
