I've been watching Urbit for a while, the grand vision is just so cool. But it never seemed to have any immediate utility, even for the most DIY hacker type. They're combining the hard things about technology (let's rebuild the user layer of the internet!) with the hard things about social networks (nobody has any reason to adopt this). So I've still never bothered spinning up a node.
But I can remember having had the same feeling about Bitcoin! And the interface is so nice. So perhaps this time I'll finally find a reason to get started.
