This is an interesting concept. I think it would need one or two major game studios to really drive this for it to take root.

I joked in the beginning that gaben should look at it, but in all seriousness, someone should email him the link. I think the best positioned player to drive this type of effort is the marketplace.

valve has been doing a pretty great job on this front. I'm not sure what they actually get out of it but I do think the linux market is a lot bigger than it seems. I game on windows because enough games I play with other people don't work well enough on proton. I do really like this linker approach because it tries to address one of the pain points of developing games for linux.
