No affiliation. But been using this for years and it's really great. Open source, encrypted, decentralized P2P overlay network that runs on Windows, macOS, Linux, BSD. iOS, Android and even embedded NAS like QNAP or Synology. Programmable rules so you can string together a DIY SDN. Good stuff. Happy to see they got some fresh gas in the tank.


Happy user as well. I use it as a hackish solution for ssh-ing to my closed-down homelab. I love how well their authentication & security is modelled.

This is great news for them.


It’s still centralized.

It requires a central authentication server or controller and trusting that server.


It's decentralized in these regards:

- You can run your own root server(s) aka "Moons"[0] so the ZT root is not explicitly required.

- In v2.0 (not avail yet) this will further be enhanced so you'll be able to run your own 100% on your own root server infra if desired.

- The p2p network is can operate in isolation (without internet access) as long as communication with the root can be established.
