Upcoming macOS 11.3 update may remove Rosetta 2 in some regions – AppleInsider (appleinsider.com)

Intel previously "warned" Microsoft about attempting to emulate x86 on ARM. While x86 itself is patent-free, many of the specific instruction sets for modern optimizations like AVX and SSE are heavily protected.

This smells like early testing, not something that’s gonna be triggered imminently. macOS doesn’t even have reliable locale detection, it relies on users to supply their own preferences. Abruptly removing Rosetta 2 for any reason would cause a huge backlash. There’s no way they’re just gonna slip that into a point release.

Note that it’s unclear which regions this could be because this was only a string found when deconstructing the release.
