there was a cool finance clone of HN a few years ago called boredbanker.com but it shuttered, I enjoyed it for the brief months that it existed.

If you want finance focused stuff, coindesk and theblockcrypto are pretty standard. decrypt is ok too. Lots of animation/annoying stuff - few sites are as simple and familiar as HN at this point.

You might look to see to what extent the news sites of interest have an RSS feed--and then use an RSS newsreader.
