Convincing Xcode to map Vim keys (bryce.co)

As an emacs user occasionally in Xcode, I periodically (once a year) try to map C-x C-s to something other than “stick an illegal character in the source”.

Maybe the new Xcode will finally allow this.

I’m surprised I haven’t seen more about vim mode in Xcode 13. Hoping it’ll massively improve over time!

Thank you for sharing. I didn’t know Xcode 13 has Vim support. That is, indeed, huge news. For me at least. I have only a superficial understanding of the Xcode tool chain and always leave auto app signing turned on, so I was never comfortable with resigning Xcode to get Vim support. As a result have never used Xcode much.

I would really love to try vim, but I have a german keyboard and the key layout is quite different. I already tried it once but it feels like using vim for challenged people...

Just change it to US international or EU layout. It takes a few weeks to adjust, but I'm typing English and German with US international layout and I can use every Umlaut without any problems. :)

How can you type äüöß?

right alt+qyps in US

right alt+auos in EU (I think)
