EUV LLC was already heavily funded by DARPA in the 90s and is why we are able to have export restrictions on ASML machines used by TSMC for the latest EUV nodes etc.
And people seem to be forgetting that ASML is a Dutch company. It’s the worlds leading producer of the chip lithography equipment, and the other quality companies in this space are in Japan.
