Viewstamped Replication Made Famous – A $20k Consensus Challenge (tigerbeetle.com)

The challenge is going to kick off with a live launch event at 6pm UTC on Zig SHOWTIME [1] this Saturday, featuring special interviews with Brian Oki, who pioneered consensus through his Viewstamped Replication dissertation in 1988, and James Cowling, who revised the protocol in 2012 (and who was also part of some incredible storage infrastructure at Dropbox called Magic Pocket).

Above all, we want to pay tribute to the protocol and to the people who designed and revised it, with the spotlight on Turing Award-winner Barbara Liskov, the person at the center throughout the history of VSR.

Hope to see you there, as together we see Viewstamped Replication Made Famous!
