It seems almost straightforward to scale this up as far as you want. You wouldn't be able to use wood, and the hard part would be to find a winch that won't snap, but it seems like one must exist.

The limiting factor seems to be the arm, which would probably become impossible even with modern materials pretty soon as you increase weight.
