How can you be anticompetitive when your software is free?

Antitrust laws were made to protect the consumer, the same consumer which was robbing Microsoft blind because they allowed piracy.



For the third time: Microsoft's software wasn't free. I have no idea where you get the idea that it was.

So the fact that I can steal a Samsung TV from Best Buy means that Samsung TVs are free and therefore it’s impossible for them to be committing antitrust violations against Sony and Visio?

I’m sorry I don’t think that follows.


It was free to those who were willing to steal. That wasn't most of us. (I wouldn't call that "wise enough", by any stretch.)

But I can see that your sense of ethics has no correlation with mine.

Be that as it may, having piracy - even allowing piracy - is not a get-out-of-jail-free card for antitrust violations.
