It's a bit disappointing that they are only refreshing one mid-range CPU. I would have jumped on a 5950X3D to extend the life of the AM4 platform but this 5800X3D doesn't appear to be much of an upgrade besides gaming.
It makes sense if you look at AMD's reasoning. They state it's intended to be the "World’s Fastest Gaming Processor", so a single chiplet CPU makes sense. It seems this is a bit of a market tester, as they also state that productivity workloads will be either impacted negatively or not at all because of the slightly lower clock speed. I hope if this product does well we'll get the other models with the same cache configuration.
