I save articles from HN to read later, but then those get decoupled from the HN discussions I might want to come back to and check out after reading the articles.
I would, then, usually paste the article URL to the HN Search page [0] to find the relevant discussion. After doing that a few times, it started to get old, and I thought I’d create a quick Shortcut to get me the first search result from any URL passed to it.
After using it, I thought I’d share it here to spare anyone who’d find it useful the few minutes it would take to create it, and I was happy I didn’t have to install a browser extension for something this simple.
In case you’ve never added a shared Shortcut before, here’s [1] how to enable them. You can then run it from the share sheet when sharing a URL from anywhere, or by running the Shortcut directly if you have a URL in your clipboard.
