This question is inspired by https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=30406201, but I am curious not just about programing, but all things that will be getting much easier …or got easier just recently.
Programming is not getting easier. It getting more complex, but the complexity is hidden . However, this all breaks down once you need to debug the system or extend the system.
There is however an ongoing budget increase in marketing to programmer/manager telling them that programming is getting easier.

Yes this is all true, but how often do you really need to debug or extend the system? It seems to me like I had to do that a whole lot more 10 to 20 years ago than I do now.
