Russia continues to torture civilians and shell humanitarian corridors, breaking earlier commitments to let civilians to evacuate from war-torn cities. Ukraine is begging NATO to close the skies over the country or at least to provide more air defense systems. There is a humanitarian disaster in the Kyiv suburbs. At least that's what we have been told every day for over a year.
What they're doing is quite medieval. They're encircling cities, cutting them off, then shelling them into oblivion, cutting off food and resources. Literally a modern day Roman siege.

Yeah, that's how sieges work. The concept might have been around for ages, but so has warfare and we don't call them (eg. us invasion of iraq) "quite medieval".
