I like the emphasis on it as a Democratic function. This is the tyranny I see everywhere these days. Tech companies ignore problems that don't scale. Unfortunately, that means that the YouTuber making a decent living, who gets unfairly deplatformed, is SOL, while DMCA takedowns are automated. The hardest problem Google ever gave up on is "Don't be evil." Sadly, people don't scale. Indifference to humanity is the evil robot who is already here.


I wonder if there is a lesson for big tech companies here. Spending a bit of money on manual long tail edge cases might lead to more reliability and trusted services.


Empowering domain-experienced QAs paired with dev to track down gnarly production issues, augmented with sharp tools, would be amazing. A stack trace graphed against time, able to navigate among service-interaction "layers," replayable on command.
