I read a story about aphantasia on HN a year or 2 ago and the extensive discussion, and got totally the wrong idea about it, and even thought I may have it myself. It's not easy to describe these phenomena (or lack of them) in a non-misleading way! But recently I read this excellent piece which I think does a great job of nailing down exactly what aphantasia is and isn't, and investigates how common it is, etc. And it's an entertaining read. p.s. I learnt from this that I don't have it.
