Really cool video. I love it when people teach concepts through using the concepts themselves (like how he shows himself in an accurate Gameboy display matrix and even "fades" the video of himself as he explains how fading worked).
I'm elated that discoveries are still being made. Since this talk, the understanding has come to be that there are two independent pixel FIFOs. One responsible for sprites, and the other for background and window tiles.
Not really - the youtube video here is much more useful than a laggy custom video system that both takes a long time to start and fails to synchronise sound correctly.
Good first video I really enjoyed it. I always liked how the Gameboy works from how it looks and sounds to the way people found clever ways to get effects on the limited hardware like screen wipes and blur.
