Fun fact: In German, earthworms are called rainworms.


In Polish, earthworms are "dżdżownica" which is derived from old Slavic for rain.

In Swedish they are "daggmask" which translates literally as "dew-worm", so the moisture connection is clearly there, too. Fun!
