I think it's because of a cert issue? Locks up my computer, too. I'm surprised Chrome doesn't kill the runaway code.

I'm not a fan of FF for Android after they removed extensions and other UX negatives.

The extensions are still kind-of there (there are ways you can use them), but yeah, it sucks.
