These days I'm mostly using VSTs... No worries about sorting cables or tracing the cause of feedback... They have improved significantly although many are overpriced and limited to encourage buying add-ons. It's amazing compared to the old days of needing to buy hardware.. I don't lose my more perfect settings, don't need to constantly configure things and work around limitations and incorrect volume levels, and I can even work on my music on a flight just using a laptop (not my first choice of course). Best of all there's no delay in me getting a new synth when I need it most, like on a Sunday when Guitar center is usually closed.
