Nice informational video (after such a long time) and I don't mean to be pedantic, but RS-232 is not a protocol, it is an electrical/physical standard. RS-232 says nothing about the bits on the wire, other than how they might be synchronized as long as both ends of the point-to-point link agree on settings.
