Software estimation doesn't work for non-trivial tasks (and trivial ones should be automated, making them non-trivial).

It's like asking a mathematician to "estimate" how long that theorem is going to take to get proven.




If it's not proved, then it isn't a theorem, it's a conjecture.


I think that was his point.
