If I am reading this correctly, a pawn past row 7 will automatically be replaced by a Queen:

Looking at the code it looks like it supports promotion, a pawn is considered on the final rank when it's entire radius is on that rank.

if it were me I’d make it so the piece has to be touching the far edge of the board, to follow with the theme
