So a mediocre , subscription based solution is experience macOS users are cursed to endure(based on that article).
MacOS/apple mac was never about gaming. It's been about about portability and user experience above all. That being said I can't see anything worse than a gpu subscription/streaming solution.
Powerful Macs are never going to be affordable... a nice 14" laptop with a AMD 6700S is $1100 right now, which is barely a baseline price for Macs.
And most devs arent going to invest in such a drastic port without subsidies, or exclusively target Apple, unless the compatibility layers (maybe chaining directx -> vulkan -> metal?) really take off.
