Everything hyped fails to fulfill expectations - that’s a truism. That said, I’m happy to give you tours of systems vastly transformed (positively) by the availability of serverless. And, it’s getting better with Step Functions which eliminates the last awful bits of maintenance overhead (updating runtimes and patching dependencies). I completely agree the traction of serverless has been underwhelming, but where it has traction the benefits are very, very compelling.
