Count me among the people who don't trust you or the whole system. There are a lot of ways this could go wrong, when there's an alternative to turn off your phone in your own pocket. This is a sign that you live in a high-trust society, or at least think you do ...



The whole thing was just a novelty so they could write a blog post and get some attention for their software.


Like the time I misinterpreted what "No Pants Day on the Subway" was supposed to be about.


Good for them. It worked.


This is the real "do something that doesn't scale".


I went to a comedy show recently that wouldn’t allow phones in. It was a huge show with thousands of people.

The way they did it was with a special sleeve that you would lock your phone in. You had your phone, you just could access it.

At the end of the show, they used a strong magnet to unlock your phone.
