For quite a long while I feel like my operating system has been Chrome and VS Code, maybe a few other things. I work on both Windows and mac, and forget for extended periods of time what computer I'm even using.
That’s a fair point, and to some extent I think it’s true - especially in modern networked environments.
Short of booting directly into the browser, you’ll still need some minimal UI, at least for switching between VS Code and your browser of choice. That’s the part where the modern OS should not get in the way, but often does.
